For motorcycle enthusiasts, locomotives are very important. Some people spend huge sums of money on buying large-displacement motorcycles, some people pursue motorcycle speed, and others are very eager to look like locomotives. But no matter what you care, pay attention to the maintenance of the locomotive. This article will show you the process of cleaning and lubricating a motorcycle chain.

1.The first step is to figure out the type of chain, such as an O-type or an X-chain.

2. Place the motorcycle in a suitable position to facilitate the removal and installation of the chain.

3. Check if the motorcycle chain is damaged seriously

4. Spray the chain with a chain cleaner to allow the cleaner to come into full contact with the chain.

5. Wipe the chain repeatedly.

6. Re-soak the motorcycle chain with detergent to ensure that every cleaning is complete.

7. Clean the motorcycle slightly to ensure that the chain is clean and tidy.

8. Apply lubricant evenly around the chain

motorcycle chain cleaning

In our daily life, how to maintain motorcycle chain and what should be noted in the process. There are three types of motorcycle transmissions, chain drive, belt drive and shaft drive. Due to its light weight, simple structure and low cost, the chain drive is the preferred form of transmission for most motorcycle manufacturers. However, the chain drive also has the disadvantage that it requires maintenance in daily use. If the chain is used for a long time and it is dry for a long time, it will be easy to lengthen the chain, resulting in excessive noise and poor texture. The elongation means that the ring between the chains is worn and thinned, resulting in a large gap between the teeth and the toothed disc, so that there is an increase in the amount of squeezing between the large and small teeth, which causes the chain we see to hang down. Then our maintenance is to reduce the wear of the ring as much as possible, thus delaying the service life of the chain and maintaining the performance.

1. Regularly clean the lubricant.

Especially when walking through the muddy road, the chain is covered with muddy water, which has fine sand inside the gap between the chains, which accelerates the wear between the chains. One thing to note is that the oil seal chain cannot be cleaned with a carburetor cleaner, which will wash the oil seal inside, causing the chain to be easily damaged. Chain cleaner should be used for cleaning. After cleaning the chain, it can't be used immediately. Instead, it needs a layer of lubricant. This lubricant can't be butter or engine oil. Because the viscosity of butter and oil is too big, it is easy to get dust and sand. Instead, the chain is more worn, and special chain lubricants should be used.

2. Take lubricant with you if you go out for long distances.

Traveling on a motorcycle, especially a long-distance travel with motorcycle, you can bring a bottle of lubricant, check the chain every other day or two to see if there is any dryness. If it is dry, you can add some lubricant to make the ride smoother. The chain should not be too loose or too tight. When it is too loose, there will be an impact, which will accelerate the wear of the large and small gears. The small ring inside the tight chain will be greatly stressed, and will accelerate the wear of the chain and the toothed disc, which is not conducive to service life. The chain should be adjusted to the sag portion with a range of 2-3 cm to facilitate chain operation. You can use motorcycle tools to adjust it if it isn’t suitable.
